How I Exploded My Email List and Pinterest Traffic in a Month
I don’t know about you, but I’m both a perfectionist and procrastinator all rolled into one. So in 2107, after months of procrastinating, I finally launched my mom blog (with the help of a blogging course).
At that time, I kept hearing about the importance of growing your email list as a blogger and using Pinterest to increase traffic. But I didn’t really know much beyond the basics about either of these topics.
So I started to learn a little more, bit by bit. However, neither my email list nor my Pinterest traffic was budging. For about a month, I had 1 subscriber on my email list. And then it finally grew to a whopping 19 (a little embarrassing… I know)!
I kept hearing about this Pinterest course by McKinzie from Moms Make Cents. So I decided to take McKinzie’s free Pinterest course, Pinterest Primer (affiliate link).
I found the free course to be really valuable. So I immediately put McKinzie’s full Pinterest course, Pinterest to Profits, on my wish list.
In May of 2017, I finally made the leap and bought the course, so here is my honest review.

My Review of Pinterest to Profits
McKinzie from Moms Make Cents has a sweet, pleasant-sounding voice. So I found it very easy to listen to her explain every step in the course. She also presents information in a clear and concise manner. This was definitely a plus because she held my attention throughout the course and explained things in a way that made sense.
The Effects on My Pinterest Traffic
Within just a couple days of starting Pinterest to Profits, I immediately saw a spike in my Pinterest traffic. I certainly was NOT expecting to see results that fast. My Pinterest Analytics below show this spike. I should note that after I completed the course, I went MIA for a while to start working on my parenting course. So that explains why my stats went down a little after the spike.
Also, the month after I implemented the strategies from the course, I reached 10,000 page views on my site. And that’s within only a couple months after launching my blog.
The awesome thing is that although I haven’t focused as much on Pinterest since I took the course, it remains my #1 traffic source. Plus, whenever my Pinterest stats are low, I find that if I go back through some of the course recommendations, my traffic jumps back up in no time!
Side note: Pinterest marketing can be time-consuming, which can lead to you slacking off so that you can focus on other areas of your blog or business. So check out my Best Tips to Save Time on Pinterest Marketing post to help you keep growing on Pinterest.
One thing that really helped me out is the way McKinzie walks you through how to use pin schedulers so that you can get traffic on autopilot. Before taking this course, I felt overwhelmed by these tools. But McKinzie does a great job explaining how to use Tailwind, which I now love! Click here to get a FREE month of Tailwind (affiliate link).
Another great thing about both the free and paid Pinterest courses is that you don’t have to have a blog in order to benefit from them. These courses show you how to use Pinterest to grow any business, whether you own a blog or do direct sales.
Furthermore, the course included a few other courses, including one on how to become a Pinterest Manager. (I now get paid to help clients set up, organize, and manage their Pinterest accounts for their businesses. You can check out my services here if interested). But needless to say, McKinzie offers great value with her products so that you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.
The Results I Was Totally Not Expecting (Beyond Pinterest Traffic)
So yeah, I was totally not expecting this… But Pinterest to Profits actually helped me to jump-start my email list. The course walks you through how to funnel visitors on Pinterest to your website, onto your email list, and eventually through your sales funnel.
Within a month, after being stuck at my oh-so-sad 19 subscribers, I gained 200 more subscribers. And the number kept growing from there. You can see how my subscribers immediately peaked while I was still going through the course by taking a look at my Convertkit account below. (Convertkit is the email service provider I was using, but I’ve recently switched to MailChimp to better fit my budget (affiliate links)).
The Verdict on Pinterest to Profits
If you want to learn more about how to use Pinterest to grow your blog or business, I highly recommend Pinterest to Profits. I’ve taken various courses since I started blogging, most of them from the top bloggers out there. And I haven’t always been satisfied with my purchases.
Even though Pinterest to Profits is a little pricey, McKinzie packs a lot of value into her offers. And it’s clear that she’s a social media and blogging expert. So becoming an affiliate for the course was a no-brainer!
Ready to take the leap? You can sign up for Pinterest to Profits here! Or, if you just want to test the waters, check out McKinzie’s free Pinterest Primer course (affiliate links).
